Penny Waghorn

I am a self taught artist who was born and raised in London, England, and moved to Riverside, California in 2003.  In England I worked for 30 years as an Engineering Draughtsman and Technical Illustrator and in my spare time painting whenever I could.  As a child I loved to draw and paint, always encouraged by my Father who was a Signpainter by trade and a Landscape artist.  When I was about 14 my Father gave me a set of oil paints and it was then that I painted my first Landscape.  After a while I found that what I loved to paint most was animals.  Over the years I have painted many commissioned portraits of pets and also people.  I also find Florals a fascinating subject.  My favored mediums now are Acrylic, Watercolor and Pastels.

For 12 years my Husband and I had a cabin in Green Valley Lake in the San Bernardino Mountains and I was part of their Artisans Tour selling paintings and photographs  of the local area.  Also commissioned paintings of people's cabins.

Whilst part of the mountain community I also had a lot of my work on display in a gallery in Big Bear.

Just recently I have become a member of The Arts Colony in Corona and have been delighted to have won a few awards.

Art has always been a big part of my life and always will be.
